Here are some of the ideas that I have for a battle arena that will be multi-player. My goal with these was to keep the layout somewhat simple but to have added mechanics that make the players have to think and choose about what it is exactly they want to do in order to win.
For this first one, I was thinking about having it be tape themed. The top and bottom parts for the map will act as conveyor belt and move in opposite directions. Each belt will have items that will move along with it. At each end it an instant kill for the player so they must be careful. In the center there will be bridges that allow the player to access the area but after a while the bridge will disappear. In each corner of that area will be jump pads so that players wont be completely trapped.
In this one, I was thinking about having it be some sort of robot death maze where the players have to race to the end of the maze of obtain either a special item of be able to equip their weapon. On their way there will be little speed bumps that will slow down the player. The players will also be allowed to pick up some smaller items on their way.
With this one, I was thinking about having it be some sort of dance battle arena. The squares around the map will rise up and down to the tempo of the music and they will start to increase tempo as the game continues on. These squares will also hold either items or the weapon pick up. The circle in the center will be spinning to the tempo of the music as well and the bridges connected to in. These bridges will also tilt to the tempo of the music.
For this one, I was thinking about having it be an underwater type arena where these three bubbles connect to the much larger bubble. Each bubble has a turret on it that protects either an item pick up or the weapon pickup. The larger bubble will have the best items on it as well as a more powerful turret.
In this idea, I was thinking about having it be an area on a farm where people would battle. The circles will be little grass patches and have items and a turret on them. These areas will also slow down the player. Animals will also be roaming around the map and if a player hits one then they will get stopped as well as lose their items and weapon.
